How Long Does it Take to Recover from Breast Augmentation?

Breast Augmentation in Philadelphia, PAWhen undergoing any surgery, it’s important to remember that the surgery is only half of the process. Recovering from breast augmentation surgery can be just as daunting as the surgery itself if you do not know what to expect. We’re going to take you through each step of the way and what you can expect when you recover from breast augmentation surgery.

The First 24 Hours

Immediately after breast augmentation surgery, it’s normal to feel a moderate amount of discomfort. Keep in mind this can generally be managed with over-the-counter or prescription medication, depending on what Dr. Pollard recommends to you. Your arm movements will be restricted for the first day or two, so make sure you have some easily removable shirts around, like button-down or zip-up tops. Remember you will need to avoid anything that will thin your blood during this time, including nicotine and tobacco.

Five to 10 Days Post-Augmentation

During this period, you’ll typically be asked to do some displacement exercises. These exercises help you achieve a more natural-looking breast augmentation after your recovery. After 48 hours, you should be cleared to drive, so long as you are not taking any prescription medications that can impair your motor skills and you feel physically able to make a sudden turn. Make sure to check with Dr. Pollard before getting behind the wheel. Keep in mind you may have one or two follow-up visits in the first 10 days.

10 to 14 Days Post-Augmentation

This is the point where everything starts to settle and return to normal. You will get the green light to return to work and resume light lower-body exercises and activities. Although you are getting back to normal after recovering from breast augmentation, it is still important to note you should not lift anything heavy or participate in any intense aerobic activities at this time.

Two to Six Weeks Post-Augmentation

About one month after breast augmentations surgery, you’ll begin to see your final results. Your breasts will start to settle into their natural position and you shouldn’t be experiencing much discomfort anymore. At the four week mark, you can also start to transition from your surgical bra back to your regular bras. At about six weeks, you should be able to start more rigorous physical activities again like upper body workouts and running.

Bonus Breast Augmentation Recovery Tips

Keep these in mind when you’re recovering from breast augmentation surgery.

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications, like Aspirin.
  • Once Dr. Pollard gives you the OK, moisturize regularly with the dermHA Therapeutic Creme to avoid stretch marks.
  • Make sure you get lots of rest – this will help speed the recovery process.
  • Avoid sleeping on your sides. Instead, rest upright with pillows behind your back.
  • Don’t be alarmed if your nipples are hypersensitive or lacking sensation after your breast augmentation – they’ve been through a lot and sensation will generally return to normal on its own.

Breast Augmentation Factors to Consider Besides Cost in Philadelphia, PA

If you have been considering breast augmentation, there are several factors for you to consider. However, many people tend to focus solely on cost. While cost should, of course, be an element of your decision-making process, it is by no means the only issue to keep in mind. Here are a few other factors to consider:

Your Doctor’s Credentials

Surgery is not a procedure to be taken lightly, and, as a result, it is important for you to choose your surgeon with the utmost care. When selecting a breast augmentation surgeon, you’ll want to make sure that this is a procedure your surgeon not only specializes in but performs regularly. It is always a good idea to view before-and-after photos to get a sense of the kind of results you can expect. Additionally, you should see if you feel comfortable during your in-person meeting. You are trusting your body goals to this surgeon and should feel confident that they will do the best possible job.

Affordability

Although cost may not be the first issue to consider, it is important to understand how this procedure can work in your budget. At Pollard Plastic Surgery, we strive to make our procedures accessible to all of our patients. As a result, we are proud to accept a variety of payment methods including financing options through CareCredit® and Alphaeon™ Credit.

Safety

Another key factor to consider is the safety of the procedure. While breast augmentation is entirely safe for a wide range of women, there are some medical concerns that may make this procedure more of a risk. The best way to determine your candidacy for breast augmentation is to schedule a consultation. This will allow you to speak with Dr. Pollard directly regarding any extenuating health issues and determine a plan designed with your needs in mind.

Recovery Time

Of course, after the procedure is complete, you will need to give your body plenty of time to rest and heal. This means that you will need to be sure you schedule your procedure during a time when other commitments can be put on hold.

If you want to stand out and make a great impression at your holiday event, you may want to consider a cosmetic procedure. Below is a list of the top five cosmetic procedures, to help you start planning for your holiday season.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a great way to achieve quick rejuvenation results. These treatments are performed within minutes, with results typically visible before even leaving your appointment. Dermal fillers are ideal for restoring volume to the face, giving your lips and cheeks a youthful boost while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If you are looking for a last-minute treatment, this is it!

Botox®

Botox® is the cornerstone of cosmetic procedures. This treatment relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles in the face, resulting in the diminished appearance of wrinkles. Like dermal fillers, Botox® begins to work instantly. However, it can take a few days for the results to become fully noticeable, so you’ll want to plan this procedure a few days in advance.

CoolSculpting®

Have you been exercising and eating healthier but still can’t seem to lose that extra fat? If so, CoolSculpting® might be your solution. CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive, FDA approved device that utilizes cryolipolysis technology to eliminate localized subcutaneous fat. This no anesthesia, no downtime treatment involves freezing fat cells using a controlled cooling method. The full results of fat loss are revealed in about three months.  CoolSculpting® is ideal for treating the back, arms, love handles, bra area, thighs and abdomen.

Liposuction

With just a single treatment, you can achieve a more contoured and shapely appearance. Liposuction can be used nearly anywhere on the body, although it can take as long as two months for the body to fully recover and your full results to be visible.

Do’s and Don’ts: Preparing for Breast Augmentation Surgery

You’ve done your research, made the decision, and you’ve scheduled the date of your breast augmentation surgery. What else is there to do? Well, there are a few things to keep in mind before the date of your surgery arrives. This way, you’ll be prepared to help your nurses and surgeon do their jobs to the best of their ability. And, you’ll have the smoothest breast augmentation surgery experience possible.

Before Your Breast Augmentation Surgery DO:

  • Breast Augmentation and Breast Implants in Philadelphia, PAGet Up Early: Rushing on the big day won’t help keep your stress levels managed. So, make sure to give yourself enough time to pack, prepare, and get to your appointment on time by waking up a little early the day of the surgery.
  • Come Without Makeup and Jewelry: You’ll need to show up the morning of your appointment wearing no makeup or jewelry. As far as clothing goes, choose something warmer. Most patients wake up from anesthesia feeling cooler. Also, choosing comfortable slip-on shoes will make for easier changing before surgery.
  • Wear Your Glasses: Just as makeup and jewelry shouldn’t be worn, contact lenses should also not be worn on the day of your breast augmentation surgery. Instead, show up wearing your glasses. While they will need to be taken off before the surgery, at least you’ll be able to see up until then!

Before Your Breast Augmentation Surgery DON’T:

  • Eat or Drink After Midnight: The stomach should be empty before all operations. So, you shouldn’t eat or drink anything the morning before your surgery. That means from 12 a.m. until after your surgery is complete you shouldn’t have a meal, snack, or even a drink. Prepare for this by eating an early dinner and skipping the glass of water by your bed throughout the night!
  • Miss the Phone Call: Your anesthesiologist will schedule a call to talk to you the night before your surgery. This conversation is imperative to help you gain knowledge on the process of the anesthesia the following day. Without this phone call, many clinics will not even go through with the scheduled surgery. So, be sure to stay near your phone!
  • Worry: You’ve done your research and made your decisions. You’ve wanted this for a very long time. And, you’re doing the best you can to prepare – even reading this article for extra tips! Mommy Makeover in Philadelphia, PASince every woman is unique and has specific goals there is a wide of the cost of a Mommy Makeover. The cost of a mommy makeover depends on the many variables for each person that giving one solid price just doesn’t make sense. This is because the plastic surgeon is working on reversing the effects of being a mommy on each individual. The surgeon may also be reversing the effects of age, large amounts of weight loss, old scars, and all manner of other damage that life offers. The plastic surgeon is also working based on the preference for the final result of the aesthetic procedures. On top of all of that, other factors such as the genetics of each individual change how things will heal, and how they remodel during that process. A plastic surgeon must design the strategies for each person based on all of these factors, and so there is not a fixed cost of a Mommy Makeover.

Breast Augmentation Vs Breast Lift

Whether you are a warrior who has survived breast cancer or gravity has won the battle, you have come to the right place. Dr. Emily Pollard is an award-winning, board certified Philadelphia plastic surgeon. A woman’s breasts are a treasure of her heart and soul. Dr. Pollard understands this and she, along with her impeccable staff are here to guide you through the process of feeling whole and feminine once again.

Dr. Emily Pollard and her attentive staff can help you make the proper choice from the following two options.

Breast Augmentation

Maybe you desire a larger cup size, or you feel your breasts are not proportionate to your hips. Perhaps you aren’t pleased with the shape and volume of your breasts, or you’re suffering from loose skin. In cases like these, Dr. Pollard recommends breast augmentation.

Breast Lift

On the other hand, maybe you are very pleased with the shape and portion of your breasts. Maybe you love their size and don’t require a larger bust. The weight of bigger breasts, however, can cause them to sag over time. If your breasts appear deflated and sag, a breast lift is the procedure Dr. Pollard will recommend.

Plastic surgery goes much deeper than cosmetic changes. When you find a procedure that you’re comfortable with and follow through with the surgery, you will enjoy endless benefits – including a new, improved confidence that goes beyond physical image.

Getting Your Body Ready For Summer

Body Countouring in Philadelphia, PAMany people dread bathing suit and shorts season – for good reason. If you are not happy with your body, it can be hard to show it off and feel comfortable in clothes suited for the summer heat.

To gain that confidence to enjoy a summer day at the beach, many patients explore tummy tucks, liposuction, and breast enhancements. A tummy tuck will tighten abdominal muscles and get rid of loose skin. It restores weakened or separated muscles, creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. Liposuction sculpts the body and removes unwanted fat from areas such as the inner and outer thighs, waist, hips, back, knees, upper arms, chin/neck, and abdomen. And finally, for many women, a breast enhancement is the icing on the ‘cake’ of a great body. Breasts may either be lifted to a perkier position or augmented to restore lost volume.

If you want your new and improved body in time for summer, you need to remember that you’ll need one month for your body to heal and for the results to settle. You can discuss the option to have the surgeries simultaneously with Dr. Pollard. You shouldn’t rush the surgeries just to be “ready” for summer, of course, but with careful planning and Dr. Pollard’s expertise, you can be ready for summer.
