Many people are turning to more than lotions and creams for a youthful glow. Microdermabrasion is an in-office, non-invasive procedure that can provide radiant results in just one visit. Located in Bala Cynwyd and serving Philadelphia, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Emily Pollard’s office offers microdermabrasion and is accepting new patients today!
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, chemical-free exfoliation process. Microdermabrasion has been a cosmetic procedure for decades and has become increasingly sophisticated over time. Doctors have created new formulas to achieve better results with little to no side effects.
We use diamond tip microdermabrasion, which is safe for both the body and face, to remove the top layer of the epidermis. The diamond tip is used as a mechanical exfoliant, acting as a tiny pressure washer. In addition to removing the top layer of dead skin cells, the procedure results in increased blood flow, collagen production, and new skin cell development.
Often, our office skin therapist will recommend a series of microdermabrasion treatments over time for optimum results. Once desired results are achieved, our staff can recommend a maintenance program for intermittent microdermabrasion treatments.
Benefits of Microdermabrasion
Dr. Pollard recommends microdermabrasion to treat the following skin concerns:
- Acne scarring
- Large pores
- Fine lines or wrinkles
- Uneven skin tone
- Uneven skin texture
The result of microdermabrasion is a smooth, even complexion.
Am I a Strong Candidate for Microdermabrasion?
Most people with the desire to have firmer, younger looking skin are strong candidates for microdermabrasion. Because it is a non-invasive procedure and no downtime is required after the process, many individuals find it about as easy as having their haircut.
What Can I Expect Before, During, and After Microdermabrasion?
There is no preparation for a microdermabrasion appointment, so come as you are! The first step at the appointment will be to clean the treatment area to remove any oil or residue. Our therapist will perform the treatment using a handheld device which is methodically moved across the skin to slough off the dead skin cells.
Your comfort is of utmost important to us, so if at any point you are uncomfortable, the pressure or speed of the device can be adjusted to achieve your maximum comfort level. After the procedure, a moisturizer and SPF will be applied to the treated area. Once out of the office, it’s important to avoid sun exposure for maximum comfort and results.
How Much Does Microdermabrasion Cost?
The cost of microdermabrasion is dependent upon the size of the treated area. Many people focus the treatment on the face, neck, décolletage, or a combination of the three. We’re proud to offer CareCredit® and Alphaeon™ Credit solutions for financing cosmetic procedures. Our CareCredit® and Alphaeon™ Credit plans include low monthly payment options and no prepayment penalties.
