Facelift in Ardmore, PA
Genetics, the environment, and stress can cause wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of aging. Having our team at Pollard Plastic Surgery perform a facelift for patients in Ardmore, PA, can help reduce those signs.
What Is a Facelift?
A facelift is a surgical method of reducing the appearance of aging. As we age, skin may sag or wrinkle. Creases may form around the eyes or mouth. Skin may loosen, creating a double chin or sagging cheeks that look like jowls. Depending on how advanced the signs of aging appear, patients can choose a full facelift or mini facelift to regain a more youthful appearance.
How Is a Facelift Performed?
A rhytidectomy, or facelift, begins with general anesthesia. Next, Dr. Pollard makes an incision at the hairline, from the temple area to the lower scalp. Fat is removed from the face and neck and redistributed to other areas or sculpted for a better appearance. Dr. Pollard will then reposition underlying facial tissue and lift deeper facial layers and muscles. Sometimes she makes a second incision under the chin to tighten neck skin. After being repositioned and tightened, skin is repositioned and excess skin is removed. Depending on the type of facelift, recovery time can last one to six weeks.
