Laser Hair Removal

Safe removal of hair of all colors (including white, grey, red and blonde) from all skin types (including tanned skin,) is now a reality. Because hair grows in cycles, more than one treatment is necessary to remove dormant follicles that lack pigment, remain hidden below the surface of the skin, and are not affected by the initial treatment. The number of necessary Elos™ sessions will depend on your hair color and skin type, and the part of your face or body to be treated. Usually, four to six treatments are required for substantial hair reduction; however, light colored hair may require additional treatment.

How does Elos ™ technology work?

Elos ™ (electro-optical synergy) uses a combination of light/laser and radio frequency to safely, effectively remove hair. Combining gentle pulses of two targeted energies means better results, and ensures the highest levels of safety and comfort.

How does laser hair removal differ from electrolysis?

The main difference between Elos ™ technology and electrolysis is that lasers can treat multiple hair follicles at one time, making it unnecessary to identify and probe each individual follicle, as in electrolysis. Laser hair removal is the most practical, least painful, most efficient, and probably the least expensive professional method available to remove unwanted hair.

Is anesthesia required?

Each pulse of energy feels like a slight sting or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band.  No local anesthesia is required and most people tolerate the treatment well.  You may experience some slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within hours.



When can I expect to see results?

Although hair growth is reduced with each treatment, it may take more than one session for your results to be visible. Results will depend on your hair color, skin tone and the body area treated. During your initial consultation, Dr. Pollard will discuss a customized treatment program with you, and outline expectations for your personal results.

Some states (New Jersey) impose a 6% tax on cosmetic medical procedures. Does Pennsylvania have a plastic surgery tax on laser hair removal?

No. Pennsylvania does not tax laser hair removal.
